Brian Carter Cellars

Background

For nearly three decades, Brian Carter has been recognized as one of the top winemakers in Washington State. He is the only three-time winner of the Seattle Enological Society Grand Prize, perhaps the most coveted wine award in the Pacific Northwest. Now combining forces with Mike Stevens, a successful Bellevue area businesman, Brian has launched his own label and anticipates a full production winery opening at Woodinville Village in 2008.

Wines

Brian Carter Cellars is the first winery in Washington state to focus exclusively on an array of hand-crafted European-style blended wines. In 2006 Brian Carter Cellars released several of these blends using grapes sourced from many of Washington States top Vineyards: two Bordeaux-style blends, a Super Tuscan-style blend, a southern Rhone-style blend, and a white wine blend. The essence of the wines is captured by noted artist Stephen Black's label artistry, created specifically to reflect the unique nuances of each wine.

Accolades

In addition to Brian’s many past achievements, his new wines have been released to such high praise that he sold out of his first release in six months. Upon release of his wines, noted Seattle wine retailer Dan McCarthy noted, "The 2002 Tuttorosso is one of the best American Super Tuscan-style reds I have ever tasted. He takes the concept of blending Sangiovese and cabernet in Washington to a completely new level. It is becoming clear that blended wines made here will clearly outdistance those made of single grape varietals."
